Ian's acting career began in the early 80's with roles on BBC television programmes such as Eastenders and in regional theatres such as the Liverpool Playhouse. Hart's feature film debut came in 1985 with a small role in No Surrender. In 1994 Ian got his first big break with his portrayal of John Lennon in the film Backbeat.
This led to a number of other great roles in films such as Nothing Personal (1995) for which he won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Venice Film Festival. Other big films Ian has appeared in are Ken Loach's Land And Freedon (1995), Neil Jordan's The End Of The Affair (1999) and Stephen Frears' Liam (2000). Ian Hart is currently starring with Courteney Cox in US drama Dirt.
